Díaz Ayuso claims that Sheinbaum is using her visit to Mexico to "divide and confront"

Mexico City.- The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, assured this Wednesday that the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, is using her presence in the country "to divide and confront", despite the fact that she "never" has "spoken of her", she argued, in a context of clashes between both leaders in recent days. "It is true that the president, let's say, has also tried over these days to use my presence to divide, to confront, when I have never spoken about her," he emphasized at the Morelos Theater in the state of Aguascalientes, central Mexico. The Madrid governor maintained that she has not mentioned Sheinbaum in her speeches because "I respect the person who has been elected at the polls" and because of "the express desire of the people of Mexico." "In the same way that I respect your presence when you go to Spain," he stated, referring to the visit of the head of the Executive to Barcelona at the IV Summit in Defense of Democracy, in which the normalization of diplomatic relations between both countries was staged. "You may or may not agree with the ideas and what each person defends, but respect, kindness, knowing how to be hospitable, I believe, is above all else, because, in addition, no one can speak on behalf of everyone," he added.

The Clash Between Ayuso and Sheinbaum

Ayuso responded thus to Sheinbaum, who lashed out at the president of the Partido Popular (PP) for vindicating the Spanish conquest and the figure of Hernán Cortés during her stay in Mexico City. “How do they think they are going to give legitimacy to a person who adores Hernán Cortés? In Mexico. Well, if they are a bit behind the times, aren't they?” the Mexican president pointed out.

For her part, Ayuso said that in politics "you have to fight ideas, but not people" and that, although they try to "manipulate and twist her words", she comes to Mexico in freedom, despite the threats she has received.

He also warned that when "political projects are created above the law" the so-called revolution occurs, which is nothing more than tyranny, poverty and misery, and that is how entire nations have been ruined.

Ayuso's agenda in Mexico

Ayuso will be in Mexico until May 12, although her visit to the country has already sparked controversy for leading a tribute to Cortés, defending the purity of miscegenation, and launching criticism against the officialist government Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena). During her stay in Aguascalientes, Ayuso will hold a meeting with the governors of the states of Chihuahua, Querétaro and Guanajuato, all of them from the PAN. The Madrid president's tour, which includes a stop in the Riviera Maya (south) for the upcoming celebration of the Platino Awards on the weekend, will conclude in Monterrey (northern Mexico).
