Gasolina en Estados Unidos a 4 dólares, supera su precio más alto desde el 2022

El precio medio de la gasolina en Estados Unidos ha superado la barrera de los 4 dólares por galón (3,78 litros) por primera vez desde agosto de 2022, impulsado por la inestabilidad en el suministro global de crudo tras el estallido de la guerra en Irán.

Según datos de la asociación automovilística AAA, el promedio nacional se situó este lunes en 4,018 dólares, lo que supone un incremento superior al 30 % desde que se iniciaran las operaciones militares a finales de febrero.

La escalada de precios, que no se veía a estos niveles desde los meses posteriores a la invasión rusa de Ucrania, ha obligado al Gobierno estadounidense a reaccionar.

El director de la Agencia de Protección Ambiental (EPA), Lee Zeldin, anunció durante la conferencia CERAWeek, celebrada la semana pasada en Houston (Texas), que se levantarán temporalmente ciertas regulaciones ambientales para facilitar el suministro y contener los costes.

"Prevemos la posibilidad de una interrupción en el suministro de combustible estadounidense", advirtió Zeldin, justificando la flexibilización normativa como una medida de alivio urgente para las familias.

Por su parte, el vicepresidente JD Vance reconoció la gravedad de la situación durante un acto en Auburn Hills (Michigan), aunque calificó el repunte de "temporal".

Ayer, lunes, el crudo de referencia en EE. UU. El WTI cerró en 102,88 dólares, superando la barrera de los 100 dólares por primera vez desde 2022.

El mercado permanece atento a la tregua temporal del presidente estadounidense, Donald Trump, quien ha extendido hasta el 6 de abril la pausa en los ataques a la infraestructura energética de Irán.

Trump advirtió en la víspera a Irán que su país destruiría sus pozos petroleros, sus centrales eléctricas y la isla de Jark a menos que se reabriera el estrecho de Ormuz, por donde fluye una quinta parte del suministro mundial de petróleo y gas natural.

Además, Trump aseguró que Irán permitiría el paso de otros 20 buques petroleros a través del estrecho de Ormuz.
