Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, assured this Tuesday that the Government is working with organized motoconcho federations to strengthen controls and prevent violent acts by some motorcycle drivers, following recent aggressions recorded in different parts of the country.
The official's statements come amid concern generated by several incidents captured on video and spread on social media, including assaults against a school bus driver and a woman, events that have caused outrage among citizens.
Raful explained that the authorities hold a permanent working table with the National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (Intrant) and representatives of motoconcho associations to seek joint solutions and reinforce citizen security.
The official pointed out that the organized federations will participate in a process of purging their members, with the aim of identifying irregular conduct and collaborating with the authorities in the event of incidents.
"We are all looking for joint solutions, where they are part of the solution, not the problem," the minister expressed when referring to the coordinated work with organized motorcycle taxi drivers.
