Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro shared a video this Friday to highlight the strength of his country against the "siege" of the U.S., which does not rule out using force against Caracas.
"What does the imperialist gringo want? The riches of Venezuela, to colonize it, to break it into pieces, but they have not been able to, nor will they be able to, neither today nor ever (...) We were born to win and never to be defeated," the president expressed on Telegram, after showing part of the training received by thousands of young people in the II Revolutionary Special Operations Course.
In recent weeks, Maduro has ordered the strengthening of the civic-military union in the country. The measure was taken after reports that Washington had ordered the sending of an amphibious squadron to the Venezuelan coasts.
The USS San Antonio, the USS Iwo Jima, and the USS Fort Lauderdale, which transport 4,500 personnel, including 2,200 marines, would have been assigned to the operation, according to reports. The ongoing US mobilization would also include warplanes, guided missile destroyers, and even a nuclear submarine.
