Santo Domingo.- A court in Hermanas Mirabal sentenced a man to 30 years in prison for beating his father to death, in an incident that occurred in the town of Palmar in the municipality of Salcedo.
The sentence was imposed on Erison Antonio Hidalgo Almonte through an abbreviated criminal trial, after the defendant admitted his criminal responsibility in the events investigated by the Public Ministry, represented in court by the fiscal prosecutor José Orlando Liriano.
The decision was made by Judge Yudelka de León, of the Instruction Court of Hermanas Mirabal, who established that the defendant must serve 20 years in prison at the Juana Núñez Freedom Deprivation Center, in Salcedo. The other 10 years will be subject to conditions through the suspensive modality, by virtue of what is established by the regulations in force in the country.

Furthermore, the court ordered the defendant to pay compensation of 500,000 pesos in favor of the plaintiff and civil actor, as fair reparation for the damages caused by the seriousness of the act.
According to the record, on May 21, 2025, around 3:00 in the afternoon, Hidalgo Almonte prepared a stick in front of the house and went to the room where his father was sleeping, to whom he inflicted several blows to the head that caused his death.
It indicates that, after committing the bloody act, the processed person stole money from the victim and the key to a sister's vehicle, proceeding to break the padlock of the marquee, an action that was witnessed by witnesses, who observed the blows he gave to the padlock and when he fled in a hurry in the vehicle.
The processor was convicted of violating several articles of the Dominican Penal Code.
