Mayor's Office Brigade Attacked During Illegal Construction Halt in Ensanche Julieta Morales

Santo Domingo.- The National District City Hall reported this Thursday on an unfortunate incident that occurred in the Ensanche Julieta Morales sector, where a municipal brigade was attacked while trying to stop a construction project that was allegedly being carried out without the corresponding permits. According to an official statement issued by the institution, the brigade appeared at the site to execute the stoppage of work, in accordance with the protocol established for interventions of this type. However, during the procedure, the members of the municipal team were attacked with stones by a group of workers who were working on the construction site.

As a result of the aggression, one of the Mayor's Office collaborators was seriously injured in the head, which led to a containment response from the authorities present.

“La situación está siendo investigada con la mayor rigurosidad para establecer las responsabilidades del caso y tomar las medidas correspondientes”, indicó el Ayuntamiento en su comunicado.
Likewise, the Mayor's Office deeply regretted the violent events that occurred and reiterated its commitment to compliance with urban regulations and the safety of both its collaborators and the general public. Local authorities reiterated that all construction in the National District must have the required legal permits, and warned that they will continue to carry out operations to ensure respect for municipal laws and ordinances.
