Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, (MESCyT) delivered a new group of national scholarships to meritorious students, selected from more than 80 thousand applications received during the call.
According to the authorities, the goal is to award 8,000 scholarships, which further highlights the academic merit of the beneficiaries, who were selected based on criteria of excellence and without political, religious, or economic distinction.
This group of students will pursue their higher education at the Pedro Francisco Bonó Institute, as well as at the Instituto Técnico Superior Comunitario de San Luis, respectively.
The information was issued by the head of National Scholarships, Rafael Martínez, who represented the minister, doctor Franklin Gracia Fermín.
During the event, several students were recognized as part of the new scholarship recipients, including Jorge Luis Rosario, who will pursue a degree in Higher Technician in Radiology at ITSC; Carla Reynoso Martinez, selected to study Nursing; Marieli Contreras; Maria Celeste Martinez, in the Nursing program.
The MESCyT authorities recalled that each year, due to the large number of applications (ranging from 79,000 to 85,000 files), many applicants must wait for future calls, but they assured that the “Beca Tu Futuro” program will continue to grow to offer more opportunities.
The institution highlighted that this process is strictly academic and merit-based, guaranteeing equal opportunities for all young people in the country, regardless of origin, economic condition, ideology, or religion.
With this program, the Dominican Government reaffirms its commitment to education, strengthening human capital and training professionals in strategic areas for national development. This call is made from February 21st and concludes in March.
