Madrid.- Netflix announced this Wednesday that it will soon begin filming in Seville a fiction miniseries inspired by the case of Marta del Castillo, for which it still has no title or release date. The project, as stated by Netflix in a statement, has the support of Marta del Castillo's family and will be produced by Bambú Producciones (creators of ‘El caso Asunta’ and ‘El caso Alcasser’), in collaboration with La Claqueta PC. The announcement comes shortly after the Government advanced a reform of the right to honor and personal privacy, which seeks to strengthen the protection of minors and regulate 'true crimes', when with them the person who causes the damage, suffering or death obtains an economic benefit or personal projection.

Who was Marta del Castillo?

Marta del Castillo was a 17-year-old Sevillian whose disappearance and murder in 2009 deeply shocked Spain. She left her house in Seville on January 24, 2009 and never returned. Days later, her ex-boyfriend Miguel Carcaño confessed to having murdered her. He was sentenced to prison, but Marta's body has never been found, which made the case one of the most painful and media-covered in the country.
