Santo Domingo.- This June 11, Netflix releases The Air Cocaine Case: High-Flying Traffickers, a documentary series that promises to captivate true crime fans with a real story full of mystery, intrigue, and controversy. The production is based on one of the most shocking drug trafficking cases in the Caribbean region, which occurred in 2013, when the authorities of the Dominican Republic intercepted a private Falcon 50 jet with 26 suitcases full of cocaine at Punta Cana airport. The flight, which was destined for Saint Tropez, France, was carrying 700 kilos of drugs and triggered an international investigation that still raises questions today. The documentary focuses on French pilots Pascal Fauret and Bruno Odos, who were arrested in the Dominican Republic after the discovery of drugs in their aircraft. Sentenced to 18 years in prison for international trafficking, they starred in a cinematic escape by fleeing the country in a speedboat. Once on French soil, both were acquitted, which sparked a strong debate about justice and the international connections surrounding the case.

Directed by Olivier Bouchara and journalist Jérôme Pierrat, the series offers an in-depth analysis of the facts through exclusive interviews with prosecutors, journalists, agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and others involved. Unprecedented details are also revealed about a possible collaboration of former French intelligence agents in the escape, disproving official versions that deny the participation of the French government in the operation. The production highlights how people with no criminal records, including former French military personnel, ended up involved in a complex international drug trafficking network. Through a bold narrative, with touches of black humor and a rigorous journalistic approach, the series questions the official versions and exposes the failures of the judicial system in a case that crossed borders. The Air Cocaine Case: High-Flying Traffickers not only tells a surprising story, but also invites the viewer to reflect on the connections between organized crime, politics, and international justice. With archive images, dramatic reconstructions, and revealing testimonies, Netflix presents a production that promises to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The real story behind the so-called “Air Cocaine” still leaves many unanswered questions, and this documentary becomes an opportunity to explore a truth that surpasses fiction.
