Peruvian journalist Jaime Chincha dies at 48 years old

Lima.- Peruvian journalist Jaime Chincha, one of the most recognized television presenters in his country, died this Sunday at the age of 48, after suffering a heart attack, reported the newspaper La República, on whose digital platform he hosted a popular program. Chincha became known in his country from a very young age, by being part of the first generation of reporters for the Canal N television channel, in the last years of Alberto Fujimori's government (1990-2000). According to the information, the journalist died at his home, in the Miraflores district of Lima. Chincha also hosted programs on the RPP radio station, which on Sunday mourned his death and sent its condolences to his family and friends. The National Association of Journalists of Peru (ANP) expressed its condolences and highlighted that Chincha was a "perceptive interviewer", as well as a commentator and political analyst.

"The NPA joins the sector in mourning and extends its condolences to their family members, friends, colleagues, and loved ones," it stated.

In turn, the Press and Society Institute (IPYS) "deeply regretted the death of journalist Jaime Chincha, whose voice and commitment marked Peru's public agenda in recent years." Television hosts like Juliana Oxenford, with whom he shared a program, recalled their "complicity for just causes", while Rosa María Palacios noted that Chincha was "a good journalist, a kind and reliable colleague, but above all, a good man".

"Too young to say goodbye," she lamented.
