Santo Domingo. - The Frente Amplio, along with the Partido Comunista del Trabajo (PCT), the Partido Patria para Todos (PPT) and other social, popular and left-wing organizations, demonstrated this Saturday in Independence Park in rejection of the interference of the North American government in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and in defense of the sovereignty of the Latin American peoples against the imperial pretensions that seek to destabilize the region. They qualified the aerial attacks and economic siege by Washington as a flagrant violation of international law and the principle of self-determination of peoples. "These pressure mechanisms are tools of domination that only seek to punish a people who decided to be masters of their own destiny, challenging the hegemony that has historically been attempted to be imposed on the continent."

They point out that the defense of Venezuela must be assumed as an unavoidable priority for all progressive and revolutionary forces that aspire to a world based on respect and social justice. Finally, they urged the Dominican people to remain vigilant and to express their rejection of the bombings in Caracas and other cities, which occurred in the early hours of this Saturday.
