Santo Domingo.- In the framework of the Environment Month promoted by Rotary International, the Rotary Club Santo Domingo Bella Vista held a special meeting in one of the halls of the Naco Club, aimed at promoting reflection, education and action in favor of sustainability and care for the planet.
The activity featured the participation of the renowned journalist Alicia Ortega, who gave a conference focused on the role of the individual, society, and the media in building a culture of environmental responsibility.
The event brought together past Rotary governors, presidents of different clubs, members of the Federation of Business Women (FEM), and special guests, solidifying itself as a space for dialogue and collective commitment.
During the opening remarks, the club president, Rita Soriano, highlighted the importance of this month as a call to conscious action.
"This is not just a time to talk about the environment, but to deeply question what we are doing for our earth and how, from our role as leaders, we can generate real and sustainable changes," he expressed.
In the context of International Earth Day, commemorated on April 22nd, the need to strengthen individual and collective commitment to the protection of the natural environment was reiterated, recalling the principle of service that has guided the organization since its founding by Paul Harris.
The day took place in an atmosphere of reflection and inspiration, reaffirming that environmental care is a shared responsibility that demands concrete actions and conscious leadership.
One of the most significant moments of the event was the recognition given to Alicia Ortega for her outstanding professional career, as well as her designation as an honorary member of the Rotary Club Santo Domingo Bella Vista.
With initiatives like this, the club continues to strengthen its mission of service under the motto "United to do good," promoting a positive impact both in the community and in the environment.
