Caracas.- The Venezuelan acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, announced this Friday the creation of the Vice Ministry of Artificial Intelligence, which adds to the restructuring measures she has taken since assuming the position in January, after the capture of Nicolás Maduro by the United States.
"We are giving a boost to a Venezuela for the future," assured the president in an event broadcast by the state channel VTV.
In that sense, he maintained that his country is "taking firm steps towards the future" with a "technological impulse (that) must translate into benefits for the Venezuelan people."
Rodriguez's press team added that the new Vice Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Productive Efficiency aims to drive the strategic modernization of the country.
The Chavista leader inaugurated a technological and data management center for the hydrocarbon industry that will have artificial intelligence and will be open to the private sector to, she affirmed, improve the production of oil and gas.

He explained that, with the support of AI, it will be possible to have "predictive models for field maintenance" and improve their productive capacities. Last September, the head of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, assured that an AI policy was "in full development" in her country, which includes the construction of an infrastructure and the elaboration of a code of ethics, as well as training programs. Venezuela signed a memorandum of understanding last July with the Chinese iFlytek for the joint development of artificial intelligence technologies.
