Washington .- The White House assured this Wednesday that the conversations with Iran continue and that they remain «productive» after Tehran said today that it has rejected a 15-point proposal from US President Donald Trump to end the war.
"They haven't stopped. Conversations continue. They are productive, as the president (Trump) said on Monday, and they still are," explained White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt at a press conference when asked about the state of the dialogue after the announcement of the Islamic republic.
On the other hand, Leavitt assured that not everything reported by the media about the 15-point plan proposed by Washington is true.
«The White House never confirmed the entirety of said plan. (The reports) contain elements of truth, but some of the stories I read did not entirely align with the facts», explained the spokesperson.
The Crossing of Conditions
According to The New York Times newspaper, as reported yesterday, the peace plan was channeled through Pakistan and includes general guidelines related to the nuclear program and the development of Iranian ballistic missiles, in addition to mentioning the security of energy routes, in particular the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the crude oil exported in the world circulates and which has been partially blocked since the war began.
Iranian media have said that Tehran rejected the plan, considering it "excessive" and that it has responded to Washington with its own conditions.
Trump announced on Monday that he will postpone for five days the attacks against Iranian power plants with which he had threatened, conditioning the measure on Iran unblocking the Strait of Hormuz, and after assuring that he has held "productive" conversations with Tehran.
