Washington.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed this Saturday that he is analyzing a new proposal presented by Iran with the aim of putting an end to the conflict between both countries.
Before boarding Air Force One, Trump indicated that he would receive the full text of the document and would later offer details about its content.
The initiative was sent by Tehran through Pakistan, according to reports from Iranian media such as Tasnim and Fars, and arises in response to a previous proposal presented by Washington.
Through his social network Truth Social, Trump expressed doubts about the acceptance of the Iranian plan and stated that Iran “has not yet paid a high enough price” for its actions over the past decades.
The Iranian proposal contains 14 points, while the one previously presented by the United States included nine.
Among Tehran’s main demands are non-aggression guarantees, the withdrawal of US forces from the vicinity of the country, the lifting of the naval blockade, and the release of frozen Iranian assets.
The document also proposes the payment of compensation, the elimination of economic sanctions, and the cessation of hostilities on various fronts, including Lebanon.
Furthermore, Iran proposed a new mechanism to manage maritime transit in the Strait of Hormuz, considered one of the most important strategic points for the world trade of oil and natural gas.
While Tehran seeks to resolve the conflict within 30 days, Washington has proposed a two-month ceasefire.
A three-week truce is currently in place, while both sides continue negotiations through diplomatic channels and mediating countries.
In parallel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held talks with diplomatic representatives from Italy, France, Japan, and South Korea amid international efforts to reach an agreement.
