Samaná. – Residents and representatives from different social sectors denounced the abandonment of more than a dozen buses belonging to the School Transportation System, which remain out of service in an improvised depot located in the municipal district of Arroyo Barril. According to the complaints, the accumulation of inoperative vehicles would evidence problems in the logistics, maintenance, or assignment of personnel in charge of the program's operation in the province. A father of a family described the situation as "a mockery" for the families of Samaná, pointing out that many students must walk long distances or pay for private transportation while the units remain stopped. The TRAE program was implemented by the Government with the purpose of ensuring safe school transportation and reducing the expenses of Dominican families.

However, to date, the province's educational authorities have not offered explanations as to why the buses are not operating on the corresponding school routes. Faced with the situation, community members called on the Ministry of Education (MINERD) and the TRAE management to intervene urgently, rehabilitate the units, and prevent the deterioration of vehicles acquired with public resources.
