United Airlines plane hits a pole at Newark airport, no injuries reported

Newark. – A United Airlines plane collided with a lighting pole while performing arrival maneuvers at Newark Liberty International Airport, in an incident that left no injuries among passengers or crew. The aircraft, coming from Venice, Italy, was carrying 221 passengers and 10 crew members at the time of the incident, which occurred around 2:00 PM local time. According to United Airlines, the plane made contact with the metal structure near the New Jersey Turnpike, shortly before reaching the assigned gate for disembarkation. The company indicated that all occupants were safely evacuated without incident.

Airport authorities confirmed that operations at Newark Liberty continued as normal following the incident and that passengers received assistance to complete immigration and baggage processes. The aircraft will remain out of service while airline technicians assess the damage caused by the impact. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) opened an investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident and review the landing procedures applied during the maneuver.
