Turkey currently controls 65% of the world's exports of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as stated this Monday by Selçuk Bayraktar, president of the Turkish military equipment company Baykar.
Turkey holds "65% of the global UAV export market," Bayraktar told a group of journalists aboard the TCG Anadolu, the Turkish Navy's first drone and aircraft carrier, the Turkish Anadolu Agency reported. He added that only his company "represents 60% of that figure, with 90% of its revenue coming from exports." The statements were made during a parade of Turkish Navy ships in the Bosphorus Strait held the previous day, Sunday, as part of the celebrations of 'Victory Day', a holiday with which Turkey commemorates its victory over Greece in the Battle of Dumlupinar, on August 30, 1922.You may be interested in: Ukraine commemorates its Independence Day and strengthens ties of friendship with the Dominican Republic
"We have exported drones to 37 countries," said Bayraktar, who emphasized that Turkish drones have "the world's most advanced technology in the most cost-effective way, taking into account the payloads and the family of ammunition they carry."
