Virginia citizens saved a pitbull left abandoned in a cage inside the water

Virginia.- A Pitbull dog that was left abandoned inside a water pond in this city, was rescued by citizens who were able to spot it in time. A neighbor, who prefers to remain anonymous, said that they sent a photo of the trapped dog alerting about what happened. They commented that the dog was "with the water up to its chest." Suffolk police reported that on Sunday they went to Pioneer Road while neighbors and firefighters worked together to get the cage and the dog out of the water.

They believe the dog weighed around 25 kilos. The neighbor we spoke with mentioned that the pitbull was friendly. A leash was also found inside the cage. Many people are asking themselves the following:

“Who could do that?”, said Carmen Brown, a volunteer with the Suffolk Humane Society. “What kind of person would do that to an animal?”

Brown is grateful that the neighbors arrived at that moment. The time he spent in the water exposed the dog to several dangers. He could clearly have drowned, and the water could have exposed him to multiple diseases.
Virginia authorities are investigating what happened and are seeking to find the whereabouts of whoever committed this act.
