In addition, the Spaniard avoids Serbian Novak Djokovic, currently sixth in the world, until a hypothetical final, according to the draw that took place this Thursday in Paris.

The former world number 1 was placed in the same part of the draw as the Italian Jannik Sinner, world number 1, whom he would meet in the semifinals if both reach.

After the Japanese Nishikori, Alcaraz would face the Norwegian Casper Ruud in a hypothetical quarter-final, winner of the Madrid Masters 1,000 and two-time finalist on the clay court of Paris.

His supposed rival in the semifinals would come out of the duel between the American Taylor Fritz, fourth in the world, who has not strung together more than two victories on the clay tour, and the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, eighth seed, whom the Spaniard defeated in the recent final of Monte Carlo.

Sinner, who after serving a two-month suspension for doping reached the  final of Rome, which he lost to Alcaraz, will debut at Roland Garros against Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, 72nd in the world, and would cross paths in the quarterfinals with Briton Jack Draper, fifth in the world, one of the sensations of the year and who arrives in Paris after having reached the final in Madrid.

Djokovic, for his part, will begin the tournament against the American Mackenzie McDonald and would cross paths in the quarterfinals against the German Alexander Zverev, number 3 in the world, finalist of the last edition, who will debut against the American Leaner Tien.
