Boston, USA.— Juan Soto broke the silence about his free agency process and revealed that the Boston Red Sox were one of the teams that pressured him the most to get his signature, competing directly with the New York Yankees and Mets, the team with which he finally agreed to a record contract.

During a Mets visit to Fenway Park, Soto confirmed that Boston was one of the protagonists in the bidding:
“Yes, they were really there, leading the list. They pushed hard, but in the end, I made the decisions. I was very impressed by how much they tried, but there's nothing more to say. I was very happy that they did what they did”, expressed the Dominican slugger to The Athletic.

According to reports, the Red Sox offered a contract of 15 years and 700 million dollars, but were surpassed by the historic figure of 765 million offered by the Mets, led by their owner Steve Cohen.

After failing to finalize the signing of Soto, Boston's management redirected its moves by reinforcing the pitching staff: they acquired starting pitcher Garrett Crochet, to whom they extended for seven years and 175 million dollars, and signed Cuban closer Aroldis Chapman for one year and 10 million.

Soto, 26, comes from a standout season with the Yankees and has started his new stage in Queens with strength, but his recognition of the Red Sox's effort could resonate among fans and executives who saw in him a figure to change the course of the franchise.
