Canada recognizes the DGA for promoting safe trade

Santo Domingo.- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in Santo Domingo recognized the work of the General Customs Directorate (DGA), for its work in combating cross-border crime, for promoting safe and fluid trade, as well as strengthening bilateral cooperation.

During the recognition carried out at the headquarters of the DGA, headed by the head of the collecting entity, Yayo Sanz Lovatón, representatives of the agency highlighted that both entities are members of the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC), the two countries share a network of ports and airports with direct connections.

The highest representative of CBSA indicated that, since 2010, CBSA maintains an active presence in the Dominican Republic, based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared vision of cooperation to ensure security and development. Our relationship with the General Customs Directorate has been fundamental in advancing common goals and facing cross-border challenges. "The Dominican Republic has established itself as a leader in logistics and commercial cargo movement in the Caribbean" and in 2024 alone, more than 1.3 million passengers traveled between Canada and the DR, which reflects the magnitude of our connectivity. This strategic relationship is a clear example of how bilateral collaboration enhances both security and international trade, and we recognize the Dominican nation as a leader in logistics and commercial cargo movement in the Caribbean," said the top representative of CBSA. He affirmed that, with the delivery of this plaque, a solid and lasting alliance is celebrated and the exemplary commitment of the DGA to global security and legitimate trade is recognized. "This gesture symbolizes our gratitude for the shared past and our firm intention to continue building together a safer and more prosperous future. From his side, Sanz Lovatón humbly and gratefully valued the recognition made by the Canada Border Services Agency, we value this recognition as a testament to the joint work and mutual commitment that we have maintained throughout all these years.
