Rafael Devers will debut at first base with the Giants

Atlanta. Rafael Devers is preparing to write a new chapter in his career this Tuesday, when he will be the starting player at first base for the San Francisco Giants in their duel against the Atlanta Braves, thus marking his first defensive appearance with the team since his transfer. Devers, 28 years old, was acquired on June 15 in a surprising trade with the Boston Red Sox, after disagreements with the management due to his refusal to be moved from third base. However, the arrival of Alex Bregman —Gold Glove winner— to the Boston team during the offseason, left Devers without his natural position. Since his arrival in San Francisco, the left-handed slugger had performed as a designated hitter, registering a .219 average, .333 OBP, and two home runs in his first 29 games with the Giants uniform. In Tuesday's game at Truist Park, Venezuelan Wilmer Flores was lined up as the designated hitter, while Devers will bat third.
