SDN Mayor's Office launches quadrant surveillance to combat improvised landfills and recover public spaces

Santo Domingo Norte.– The City Hall of Santo Domingo Norte, under the management of the mayor Betty Gerónimo, launched this Thursday morning a new quadrant surveillance plan in coordination with the National Police, with the aim of guaranteeing security, order and cleanliness on the main roads of the municipality.

The initiative will focus on the supervision of four main arteries of the municipality, considered critical areas due to their recurrent use as improvised landfills by unscrupulous individuals. In addition, it seeks to control the occupation of public spaces by street vendors, especially on Hermanas Mirabal Avenue.

During the launch event, 10 motorcycles, 10 communication radios, and other logistical support equipment were delivered, which will allow to reinforce the presence and response of the agents in the different sectors. "The goal is to ensure the tranquility of our citizens, eradicating the critical points where garbage is generated and reclaiming spaces that should be at the service of all," stated Mayor Betty Gerónimo. The plan will cover sectors such as Guaricanos, Sábana Perdida, Punta, and other communities in Santo Domingo Norte, where a high incidence of solid waste accumulation and improper occupation of public space has been identified. Authorities noted that this plan is part of efforts to transform the municipality into a safer, cleaner, and more organized environment.
