The documentary El Pico Duarte arrives in theaters

Santo Domingo.- With the support of Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN) and within the framework of its Orgullo de Mi Tierra project, Monte Sereno Films made the documentary "El Pico Duarte", which will be available in selected Caribbean Cinemas theaters in Santo Domingo and Santiago. Under the co-direction of Mariana Rubio Pittaluga and Arturo Dickson, the documentary follows the story of several characters on their journey to Pico Duarte, showing their ability to transform everyone who visits it. After successfully presenting at the IV Fine Arts "Hecho en RD" Festival of Caribbean Cinemas, the documentary now arrives at different theaters of the cinema chain in the country, starting at Downtown Center and Fine Arts Novocentro in Santo Domingo, and at the renovated cinema of Plaza Internacional in Santiago.

“Es una invitación a desconectarse del mundo moderno y a reencontrarse con la naturaleza. A través de sus paisajes y de las experiencias de excursionistas, descubrimos la historia de esta montaña, la vida de sus comunidades, la importancia del turismo responsable, y la necesidad de conservar y proteger estos parques nacionales y su flora endémica, y el yacimiento de los principales ríos de la isla”,

expresó Mariana Rubio Pittaluga.
Amalia Vega, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Institutional Relations of CCN, explained that the company supported the documentary because of the way in which it reinforces a unique place in the Dominican Republic.

“Para Centro Cuesta Nacional, que tiene años respaldando el cine local, fue importante apoyar este documental, ya que muestra la relevancia del Pico Duarte para el país, y las razones por las cuales debemos proteger esta zona y sus comunidades aledañas para las generaciones futuras”,

resaltó Vega.
The feature film shows the relationship that Pico Duarte has with the formation of the collective environmental consciousness of the Dominican people, and how the areas surrounding the mountain play a fundamental role in the conservation of biodiversity and important water basins in the country. The cast of the documentary is made up of Thais Herrera, Emil Vega, Iván Gómez, Mario Dávalos, Raymundo Vásquez "El Americano" and his son, Juan Carlos Vásquez, allowing the viewer to perceive how each of these hikers experience each climb to Pico Duarte differently, along with experts in various fields. The feature film development process involved 6 trips to Pico Duarte at different times of the year, along the routes of La Ciénega de Manabao, in La Vega, Mata Grande, in Santiago, Sabaneta, in San Juan and the town of El Tetero in Azua, with a team of 18 people. Among the experts consulted for the documentary are Alina Bello, Yohan Núñez, Teodoro Clase, Elizabeth Séptimo, Yommi Yaciel Piña, Frank Moya Pons, Bernardo Vega Boyrie, Andrés Ferrer Benzo, Kyra Montague, Constancio José Cassá, Jimmy Abreu, Gerónimo Antonio Abreu, Roberto Cassá, among others.
