SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Radio Television (RTVD) lamented this Friday the loss of María Cristina Camilo, immortal daughter and vital memory of the Dominican state channel, where she was born as a broadcaster until she became a worthy reference of broadcasting in the country.
"María Cristina Camilo is a great woman, Dominican pride, artist, mother and teacher of several generations of Dominicans who fell in love with communication thanks to her," stated the general director of RTVD, Iván Ruiz.

Camilo died this Friday at his home, at the age of 107 after a long and fruitful career always linked to channel 4, where he hosted his last program “Abuelos 911, emergencia de amor”, which was broadcast on Sundays. The legendary communicator was the first Dominican woman to appear on screen when La Voz Dominicana (today RTVD) was inaugurated on August 1, 1952, with the broadcast of the program "Romance Campesino", with Felipa and Macario. In August 2022, RTVD gave him special recognition on the occasion of the channel's 70th anniversary, which was attended by President Luis Abinader. Iván Ruiz recalled this Friday that he visited her at her house in 2021 "and what we experienced there was an experience that I wouldn't know how to describe. Until forever dearest Maíta!! You will be Sovereign forever!". His body will be veiled at the Blandino Funeral Home, on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, this Saturday, September 6th, starting at 12:00 noon.
