Tetra Pak drives sustainability campaign to promote packaging recycling

Santo Domingo. – With the aim of promoting environmental care and raising awareness about the importance of recycling, the company Tetra Pak launched in the Dominican Republic an educational campaign that invites families to separate their post-consumer cardboard containers for beverages and food, in order to be collected and sent to the recycling process. The initiative is part of the "Your Paper Counts" program and highlights that every small action counts. Properly preparing the containers and separating them from the source allows us to take care of natural resources and contribute to a more sustainable future. "Protecting what is good also starts with something small, like separating waste from the source so that it can follow different collection chains and be recycled", is the central message of the campaign that seeks to mobilize the population towards a simple and high-impact practice.

According to World Bank projections, global waste will increase by 70% from now to 2050, reinforcing the urgency of accelerating the transition to a circular economy, leaving behind the linear "take-make-dispose" model.

In that sense, Guillermo Pugliese, Sustainability Director of Tetra Pak for Andina, Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico, highlighted:

"We invite all people from their homes, offices, educational centers and companies to separate their Tetra Pak containers so that they can be recycled. In parallel, we will continue to invest and collaborate to improve the circularity of our containers and strengthen the recycling infrastructure, ensuring their incorporation into the circular economy".

The campaign is communicated through digital content and collaboration with influencers, encouraging the collection of packaging to extract valuable raw materials such as paper fibers and polyaluminum. These materials are reused in the manufacture of cardboard boxes, napkins, school furniture, and even roof tiles for construction. In addition, Tetra Pak supports monthly collection days at strategic points in the country, where people can voluntarily hand in recyclable materials.
