800 runners participated in the 5K Race organized by INTRANT

Santo Domingo. – The National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (Intrant) held this Sunday the First 5K Race for Sustainable Mobility that Saves Lives, in which more than 800 runners and walkers participated from 7:00 a.m., within the framework of the 8th National Week of Sustainable Mobility and World Car-Free Day. Winston Churchill Avenue became a vehicle-free space, transformed into a stage to promote responsible mobility. Families, athletes, and citizens came together in this event that combined sports, culture, and road safety awareness.

“Today is not just about running or walking. Today we say yes to sustainable mobility, yes to life and yes to health. And most importantly: we strongly say no to road accidents in the Dominican Republic!”,

expressed the executive director of Intrant, Milton Morrison.
As part of the event, an awards ceremony was held to recognize the participants' efforts. In the male and female categories, RD$10,000, RD$15,000, and RD$25,000 were awarded to the runners who took third, second, and first place, respectively. In addition, Grupo Ramos awarded a special prize of RD$10,000 in vouchers to people with reduced mobility, reaffirming the inclusive and human character of the race.

The Intrant emphasized that the massive participation of 800 runners and entire families enjoying recreational activities demonstrates the growing citizen interest in building a more conscious and responsible mobility. Likewise, it reaffirmed that this first edition of the race constitutes the beginning of a national movement for sustainable mobility and road safety, which transcends the kilometers traveled and becomes culture, awareness and permanent action to save lives on the country's roads.
