Government will focus public spending on infrastructure works and state modernization, Paliza affirms

Santo Domingo. – At the end of the Council of Ministers, headed by President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña, held this Thursday at the National Palace, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, informed that the government will focus on following up on the execution of the recently approved supplementary budget, with special attention to capital expenditure on public works and infrastructure projects in different regions of the country.

"This Governing Council's main focus was the review of budget execution, with special attention to capital expenditure, as a key tool to continue driving economic growth," Paliza said.

During the meeting, initiatives related to administrative efficiency and the modernization of the State were also discussed, including the Digital Government and Zero Bureaucracy programs, which seek to eliminate unnecessary processes and improve citizen services through digitalization.

Among the announced advances is the launch of the new electronic passport, scheduled to come into effect in the coming weeks, with the aim of strengthening security and modernizing immigration services. Paliza advanced the realization of the Government Actions Articulation Day 2026, scheduled for October 26, where all government entities will participate to plan and coordinate actions with a focus on people. Vice Minister Luis Madera highlighted that information will be gathered from different population groups to align institutional budgets with the real needs of the population, towards the 2028 national goals.

"This is an exercise that puts people at the center of all decisions and allows planning with vision, coordinating with purpose, and serving with greater efficiency," Paliza said.
