Santo Domingo.– Although the front system that affected the national territory is already outside the forecast area, its remnants continue to generate humidity and instability over a large part of the country, reported the predictor of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), Henry Agaramonte. During the day today, the phenomenon left locally moderate to heavy showers in its wake, accompanied by electrical storms and wind gusts, mainly over the provinces of Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde and Santiago, among other areas of the northwest. For tonight, a partially cloudy sky with scarce rainfall is expected, while tomorrow Saturday, from the early hours of the morning, scattered showers could occur towards the north and northeast regions. In the afternoon, the downpours could intensify, with thunderstorms and wind gusts towards the northwest, Central mountain range, northeast and southeast of the country. Agaramonte explained that due to the accumulated rainfall and what is still expected, Indomet maintains several provinces under alert levels and meteorological warnings, due to the possibility of river, stream and ravine flooding, landslides and urban floods. The entity keeps Monte Cristi, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Plata, San Juan, Hermanas Mirabal, San Cristóbal, Dajabón, La Altagracia, Santiago Rodríguez, Duarte, Santiago, Elías Piña, Sánchez Ramírez and Valverde on alert.

Meanwhile, it issued warnings for La Vega, Samaná, Monseñor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, Hato Mayor and El Seibo. Regarding maritime conditions, Agaramonte indicated that the swell on the Atlantic coast remains normal, but warned that for Sunday and the following days it could become abnormal, so fragile, small and medium-sized vessels should navigate with caution offshore, due to abnormal winds and waves. As for the temperatures, they will remain slightly warm during the day and cooler at night, due to the change in wind after the passage of the front.
