Adora and Adopae Join to Celebrate National Merengue Day

Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Association of Broadcasters (ADORA) and the Dominican Academy of Journalists of Art and Entertainment (ADOPAE) will join forces this Wednesday, November 26, to celebrate National Merengue Day, with a special day on most of the country's radio stations. As part of this initiative, ADORA broadcasters will broadcast messages from prominent merengue artists, who urge Dominicans to continue supporting this rhythm that represents our authentic national identity. Among the artists who recorded the promotion are Juan Luis Guerra, Milly Quezada, Bonny Cepeda, Dioni Fernández, Jandy Ventura, Pochy Familia, Kinito Méndez, Tito Kenton, Marcos Caminero and Sivio Mora.

In addition, Miriam Cruz, Joseph Fonseca, Javish Victoria, from Conjunto Quisqueya; Ramón Orlando, Willie Hierro, Víctor Roque, from La Gran Manzana; Eddy Herrera, Sergio Vargas, José Virgilio Peña Suazo, Rafa Rosario, Krisppy, Giovanny Polanco and Fefita La Grande. Likewise, Irisneida Santos, Franklyn Rivers, teacher Josefina Miniño, Yokaira Martínez (The Maiden of the accordion), Monchy Capricho. Talk about merengue with Adopae Also, this Wednesday the Dominican Academy of Journalists of Art and Entertainment (Adopae) will hold the discussion "Merengue and its exponents" in the Aida Bonelly hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, at 7:00 pm with the support of Banco Popular and the Eduardo Brito National Theater. The speakers will be composer Mario Díaz, journalist and writer Fausto Polanco, and artist Pochy Familia. Mario Díaz will address the topic of who were the most prolific great merengue composers of the 70s, 80s and 90s, as well as the role they played in that golden age of the rhythm. While Polanco will focus on a bit of history, the records of merengue artists, the great singers, the orchestras that were schools, as well as what originated the rise of the rhythm in the 80s, the so-called golden age.
