Meta reaches agreements with several media outlets for the use of content to train its artificial intelligence

The company Meta, parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, announced this Friday that it has signed multiple artificial intelligence (AI) agreements with media outlets such as USA Today, People, CNN, Fox News, The Daily Caller, Washington Examiner and Le Monde. The new agreements allow Meta to access content from its partners to provide real-time answers to user inquiries about news and current events in its Meta AI chatbot, according to the specialized media outlet Axios. These multi-year partnerships seek to offer users of their social networks a wider range of verified content covering global news and entertainment.

Over time, the tech giant plans to add more news partners and topics, according to Axios. When users ask Meta's AI chatbot - which is integrated into the search and messaging functions of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger - a question that requires a real-time answer, they not only receive information about the source from which Meta AI has extracted the answers, but the chatbot also links to articles.
