Army stops driver transporting six Haitians camouflaged with merchandise at Guanito checkpoint

San Juan de la Maguana. – Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), assigned to the Guanito Checkpoint, arrested the Dominican citizen Nelio Familia, after being caught transporting six Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory condition, who were being transported hidden along with edible goods. The arrest occurred when soldiers from the ERD inspected the Daihatsu Hijet minibus, white in color, license plate I079968, in which three Haitian men and three women were traveling, all without documents to prove their legal immigration status. The detainee, the undocumented foreigners, and the vehicle were transferred to the Fortaleza General José María Cabral of the ERD, for the corresponding legal purposes, in coordination with the competent authorities.
