Peña, 28 years old, announced the news over the weekend through a post on her social media, in which she confirmed the engagement with Grosso. The Dominican-American infielder, All-Star and World Series MVP, has been frequently seen at Grosso's gatherings, even joking on social media by describing himself as a "WAG" — a term used to refer to athletes' partners—, a gesture that was well-received by the fans of both athletes. The couple has a notable sports history. Peña was a key player in the Astros' championship and established himself as one of the best shortstops in Major League Baseball. For her part, Julia Grosso is one of the most recognized figures in Canadian soccer, especially remembered for converting the decisive penalty that gave Canada the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Although details about the date or location of the wedding have not yet been revealed, fans of the Astros and international women's soccer have flooded social media with congratulatory messages and well wishes for the newly engaged couple.
