Santiago.- Judge of the Permanent Attention Office of the judicial district of Santiago, Yiberty Polanco, imposed three months of preventive detention as a coercive measure against Omar Monte de Oca, accused of attempting to steal a chain and shooting a merchant during an armed robbery that occurred in a fast food business in the municipal district of Santiago Oeste. According to the accusation, the accused pretended to be a customer and then held up the owner of the establishment, known as Prince Hotdog, who was injured by a gunshot wound to the leg when resisting the theft of the item. According to the victim's testimony, Monte de Oca initially asked for a juice and requested a phone call. When told he had to pay first, he reacted violently. "**When I told him I hadn't paid, he turned around, pointed a gun at me and tried to take my chain**", the merchant narrated in a video released after the event. During the struggle, the aggressor fired several shots, one of which hit the victim, causing moments of panic and tension inside the premises. Despite the injury, the merchant remained conscious until the arrival of the authorities. Monte de Oca was arrested in the act, seizing a 9-millimeter caliber pistol and a Tauro brand motorcycle, white in color, allegedly used to commit the attempted robbery. The accused resides in the Los Salados sector of this city.

The court ordered the defendant to comply with the coercive measure at the Rafey Men's Correction and Rehabilitation Center. Lawyers Tomás Feliz and Neudy Pérez explained that the judge accepted the preventive detention due to the seriousness of the act, the use of a firearm, and the injuries caused to the victim, factors that represent a flight risk and a risk to society. For his part, Prince Hotdog valued the judicial decision and expressed that, despite the trauma experienced during the attempted assault, he feels grateful to be alive to tell what happened.
