JCE announces national plan to renew the ID card starting in 2026

Santo Domingo.-The Central Electoral Board (JCE) presented its official schedule for the renewal of the Identity and Electoral Card, which will begin on January 8, 2026 with an internal phase aimed at the institution's staff. This stage will serve as preparation for the implementation of the new document. On January 26, 2026, coinciding with the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte, the symbolic delivery of the first identity card will take place, which will be received by President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona. Between February and March 2026, a phase aimed at focused groups and authorized entities will be carried out, including the promotion, capture, and delivery of the document. The massive renewal will begin in April 2026, organized according to the month of birth of the citizens, and will extend until March 31, 2027.
