Russia informs the U.S. that it will launch retaliatory attacks against Ukraine for terrorist attacks

Moscow.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, informed his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, that Russian forces will carry out systematic attacks against military targets in Kyiv, in response to what he described as “terrorist” attacks attributed to the Ukrainian regime against civilians in Russian territory.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the telephone conversation took place this Monday at the initiative of Moscow, during which Lavrov recalled the agreements reached at the highest level in Alaska in August of 2025 regarding the conflict in Ukraine, noting that these initiatives sought a sustainable long-term solution based on the balance of interests. The Russian chancellor regretted that, in his opinion, the hostile actions of the European elites and the Kiev government had weakened those understandings, which - he said - opened the way to a negotiated solution to the conflict. In the same dialogue, Lavrov and Rubio also exchanged views on diplomatic initiatives related to the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the situation around Cuba, as well as reaffirming their willingness, despite existing disagreements, to move towards the normalization of the functioning of their diplomatic missions in both countries.

In parallel, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned this Monday that the Russian Armed Forces will carry out "systematic attacks" against facilities of the military-industrial complex in Kiev, in response to what they describe as actions against the Russian civilian population. The Russian Ministry indicated that a recent drone attack on a student residence in the town of Starobelsk, in the Luhansk People's Republic, would have left 21 dead, mostly teenagers, a fact that would motivate the announced military response. He also specified that the objectives include facilities linked to the design, manufacture, programming, and preparation of drones used by Ukraine, allegedly with the support of NATO specialists, as well as command centers, decision-making centers, and other strategic points.
