Moscow.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, informed his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, that Russian forces will carry out systematic attacks against military targets in Kyiv, in response to what he described as “terrorist” attacks attributed to the Ukrainian regime against civilians in Russian territory.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the telephone conversation took place this Monday at the initiative of Moscow, during which Lavrov recalled the agreements reached at the highest level in Alaska in August of 2025 regarding the conflict in Ukraine, noting that these initiatives sought a sustainable long-term solution based on the balance of interests. The Russian chancellor regretted that, in his opinion, the hostile actions of the European elites and the Kiev government had weakened those understandings, which - he said - opened the way to a negotiated solution to the conflict. In the same dialogue, Lavrov and Rubio also exchanged views on diplomatic initiatives related to the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the situation around Cuba, as well as reaffirming their willingness, despite existing disagreements, to move towards the normalization of the functioning of their diplomatic missions in both countries.
