DINTEL, PN, and Public Ministry seize more than 3,800 illegal fireworks in Santiago

Santiago. – More than 3,800 units of illegally marketed fireworks were seized by agents of the Cibao Central Regional Sub-Directorate of Intelligence (DINTEL) of the National Police, in coordination with the Preventive Police and the Public Ministry, during a raid and five simultaneous operations carried out in different sectors of this province.

The spokesperson for the uniformed forces in this city stated that the intervention, carried out yesterday afternoon under judicial order No. 2025-AJ00871261, is part of the preventive actions deployed by the authorities to combat the clandestine sale of pyrotechnic devices, especially given the risk they pose to citizen safety during the festivities.

Likewise, Arias indicated that the main raid was carried out at a residence in the Bella Vista sector, owned by an individual identified as Small, who was not at the scene at the time of the search. The inspection was carried out in the presence of the owner's sister, where hundreds of high-risk fireworks were seized, including rockets, cakes, multiple-shot packages and other pyrotechnic devices of different brands and sizes.

In parallel, the authorities carried out five additional operations in commercial establishments located in Pueblo Nuevo, Villa Olímpica, Pekín, La Herradura and Brisa del Norte, including a hardware store, a grocery store, a cafeteria, a barbershop and a mini market. In these premises, prohibited fireworks were seized, as well as cigarettes and SIM cards that were being sold without complying with the established legal protocols.

In total, the authorities seized 3,819 units of pyrotechnic devices, which were placed under the custody of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes, while investigations continue to determine responsibilities and possible submissions to justice.

Authorities warn that operations will continue to prevent the illegal sale of fireworks and ensure the safety of the population.
