Santo Domingo.- The deputy of the 1st constituency of the National District for the Fuerza del Pueblo, Selinée Méndez, arrived visibly moved at the Blandino funeral home Blandino to say goodbye to the communicator Carlos Bautista, whose departure has left a deep void in the public and artistic life of the country. In tears, Méndez expressed the pain that overwhelms her after the loss of the one she defined as a close friend, almost a brother and an essential figure in her personal and professional life.
With a broken voice, she recounted the years of closeness she shared with Bautista, remembering how he was key in her beginnings in radio, when he guided her and gave her opportunities in spaces more than two decades ago. "I feel as if I were on vacation... because I really don't believe it," she confessed, bringing up the recent meeting she had with him during Holy Week, where, as always, he was cheerful, affectionate and genuine.
Méndez highlighted that the death of Batista represents a devastating blow to the Dominican artistic class, as he was an integral professional who left indelible marks on journalistic chronicles. He described him as an exceptional human being, characterized by his warmth, honesty, and constant willingness to support others, qualities that made him a beloved figure in countless homes in the country.

In a testimony filled with nostalgia, the legislator recalled how the communicator was part of the daily routine of many Dominican families, including hers. “I used to find my dad glued to him at noon”, she expressed, highlighting the close impact he had on the audience. Likewise, she affirmed with faith that Batista “is close to God”, carrying with him that joyful and loving spirit that defined him in life.
During his intervention, he also highlighted the legacy he leaves in the entertainment industry, ensuring that many of the artists who today enjoy recognition received his guidance and advice. He also mentioned his contribution to the Boulevard of the Stars, an initiative he promoted to honor outstanding figures, and deeply regretted that he is now the one who must receive that recognition posthumously. Finally, Seliné Méndez highlighted the greatest lesson that Carlos Bautista leaves her: humility. Despite projecting himself as "the most expensive man on Dominican television," she assured that in reality he was the opposite: a noble, protective, and generous being. The image of his ex-wives united in tears during the funeral, she concluded, is a reflection of the decency and love with which he lived his life.
