NBA Recap: Towns' double-double can't prevent Knicks' fall; Mavs and Wolves shine

NEW YORK, U.S. – An intense Saturday in the NBA left painful defeats for the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat, while the Dallas Mavericks took control of the Texan derby against the Houston Rockets, on a night marked by great individual performances. In the Madison Square Garden, the Philadelphia 76ers once again prevailed over the New York Knicks, this time with a convincing score, led by an offensive recital from Tyrese Maxey, who scored 36 points, accompanied by Joel Embiid with 26 units and VJ Edgecombe, who added another 26.
Paul George added 15 points for a Sixers team that achieved their third consecutive victory. The Knicks, who are going through a difficult time, couldn't avoid their third straight loss, despite 31 points from Jalen Brunson and the double-double from the Dominican Karl-Anthony Towns, who contributed 23 points and 14 rebounds.

Spurs and Rockets fall at home

In San Antonio, the Spurs fell again without the presence of the French Victor Wembanyama, absent due to a knee injury. The Portland Trail Blazers took the victory 115-110, guided by the Israeli Deni Avdija, author of a triple-double with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Meanwhile, in Dallas, the Mavericks defeated the Houston Rockets 110-104, driven by a double-double from Anthony Davis, who recorded 26 points and 12 rebounds. Max Christie contributed with 24 points, while rookie Cooper Flagg, first pick of the last draft, finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

By Houston, Kevin Durant shined with 34 points, although it was not enough to prevent the Rockets from seeing their four-game winning streak cut short. The setback came with additional concern after the early exit of center Alperen Sengun, who suffered a sprained ankle just after the start of the game.

Miami Slows Down

In Miami, the Heat saw their four-game winning streak interrupted by falling 125-115 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards led the attack with 33 points, backed by Naz Reid (29) and Julius Randle (23), who combined for 85 units. For the Heat, Mexican Jaime Jáquez Jr. had to leave the game due to an ankle injury after scoring six points in less than ten minutes of action.

Other results

In other games of the day, the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Chicago Bulls 112-99, with Miles Bridges recording 26 points and 14 rebounds, while the Toronto Raptors surpassed the Atlanta Hawks 134-117, supported by 29 points from Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett.
