Santo Domingo.- The Espaillat family reported that, despite there not yet being a final ruling, they have so far compensated 70% of the people affected by the collapse at the Jet Set nightclub, and maintains support and accompaniment programs for children who were orphaned, through the Raíces de Esperanza Foundation.

Through a statement, siblings Antonio and Maribel Espaillat, family spokespersons, stated that from the beginning of the tragedy they have acted with responsibility, respect, and solidarity, prioritizing the human pain of the affected families. They pointed out that, although nothing can reverse what happened, they have sought to respond with concrete actions, beyond any procedural stage.

The family recalled that to date there is no judicially validated technical expertise nor a definitive sentence that establishes the causes of the collapse or individual criminal responsibilities. They indicated that a technical report cited by the Public Ministry indicates that the event occurred suddenly, an aspect that is still under analysis. They also specified that from the initial stages of the process, they requested the conduct of technical appraisals, whose contradictory assessment will be known in a hearing on January 30, in accordance with due process. Finally, the Espaillat family reiterated their commitment to collaborate transparently with the justice system, rejected media trials, and reaffirmed their respect for the memory of the victims, as well as their permanent solidarity with all those affected.
