Deligne guarantees fair payment for expropriations after protest in Los Alcarrizos

Santo Domingo. – Following the protest held at the entrance of Los Alcarrizos by owners of commercial premises who claim not to have been correctly compensated for the Metro works, the coordinator of the Transportation Cabinet, Deligne Ascención, affirmed that the Government will honor its commitments to citizens who have a legitimate right to compensation. Ascensión assured that this administration has been characterized by respecting the rule of law and the right to property, pointing out that it has even had to assume payments corresponding to pending expropriations from 20 and up to 25 years, inherited from previous governments. "This has probably been the most paying government the Dominican Republic has had in terms of expropriations," he said, while indicating that he will review the situation with the director of the Office for Transportation Reorganization (OPRET).
