Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader visited the Los Platanitos sector, in the National District, affected by the rains that fell on the morning of April 8, as a result of a trough that affects the Dominican territory.
The area near Winston Churchill Avenue, where more than 200 families live, was visited by the president accompanied by Mayor Carolina Mejía and other municipal authorities, to coordinate the definitive intervention of the lagoon that borders said neighborhood.
The president instructed the mayor of the National District to work on a definitive solution to the formation of the lagoon that for more than 40 years has affected the sector after the occurrence of intense meteorological phenomena.

The existing filters were cleaned immediately, and it was stated that two new filters will be built in a first stage, further expanding this quantity in later stages. "The Government has the necessary resources to correct these situations and return these communities to normal," the president indicated.“I believe that these are solutions that must be implemented to avoid any tragedy, but the mayor and I are going to find a definitive solution. We have solved some situations like these and we will continue to solve them,” President Abinader emphasized to the affected community members.
