Argentina negotiates with the U.S. to receive deported immigrants

Washington.- The United States and Argentina are in advanced talks to close an agreement that would allow the Donald Trump administration, U.S. president, to deport immigrants from other countries to the South American nation. It's not the first time the US executive has resorted to deportation agreements with third countries, as this is one of the ways that allows it to fulfill Trump's promises to approve mass expulsions. Advanced contacts with Argentina, which have been revealed by The New York Times, come at a time when the immigration policy of the United States president is being questioned after the death of two U.S. citizens in the protests against the raids in Minnesota.

Close relationship between the U.S. and Argentina

This way, the Trump administration insists on its deterrent message to dissuade immigrants from their intention to illegally cross into the United States. In addition, it also aims to repatriate citizens from countries to which it is difficult to deport, either due to the lack of diplomatic relations or because it is impossible for them to obtain travel documents. This has already happened with other countries, such as Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama, which have shown themselves to be in favor of receiving deported people from the United States.

With this agreement, President Milei would strengthen ties with the United States, despite the problems that this decision to receive deported immigrants from Washington could bring him in domestic politics.
