Man reported missing found dead in Taveras Dam

Santiago.- After more than 24 hours of intense search, Civil Defense brigades recovered the lifeless body of Richard Peralta Félix on Wednesday afternoon, who had been reported missing in the waters of the Taveras Dam, in an event that kept family members and community members in suspense.

The discovery occurred after 3:30 in the afternoon, following an extensive operation coordinated by the Santiago Regional Directorate of Civil Defense, with the support of volunteer divers and collaborators who joined the search efforts in the area.

According to the report to the relief agency, the body was located in the waters of the reservoir and, once recovered, the corresponding protocol was immediately activated, notifying the competent authorities for legal purposes.

The body was delivered to the medical examiner, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), and the Homicide Prosecutor's Office, entities that will carry out the necessary procedures to officially determine the circumstances of death.

Civil Defense reported that with this action, their operational work at the scene concludes, after exhausting the search, recovery, and formal handover processes to the judicial authorities.

The coordination of the operation included teams from La Vega, Santiago, and the municipality of Sabana Iglesia.

The regional director of Civil Defense, Francisco Arias, expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, highlighting the dedication of the rescuers who participated in the day.

The disappearance of Peralta Félix had been reported on Tuesday, March 3, activating an aquatic tracking device that culminated in the tragic outcome.
