At least eight dead, including three paramedics, in Israeli attacks on Lebanon

Beirut.- At least eight people died on Tuesday in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, including three members of the Civil Defense who were carrying out rescue operations, while another 30 were injured, including two Lebanese Army soldiers. The worst bombing took place in the town of Majdal Zoun, where five people lost their lives, "including three paramedics from the Lebanese Civil Defense who were trapped under the rubble after an attack while carrying out a rescue mission," the Emergency Operations Center reported in a statement. The General Directorate of Civil Defense confirmed the death of its three members and explained that they had gone to help the wounded from an Israeli attack against a building when they were surprised by the bombing.

Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue

In Majdal Zoun, two Lebanese army soldiers were also injured, according to a statement from the military institution. On the other hand, the Emergency Operations Center reported two more attacks in Jouayya and Jibchit, which caused one death and 15 injuries, and two deaths and 13 injuries, respectively. The Minister of Public Health of Lebanon, Rakan Nasseredine, condemned the deliberate bombing perpetrated this Tuesday against rescuers and warned that with it the number of health sector workers murdered since the beginning of the conflict at the beginning of March rose to more than a hundred.

"Our paramedics are not mere numbers and we will not allow these crimes to go unpunished. Accountability will be demanded and justice will inevitably prevail, even if it takes time," Nasseredine concluded in a note. All of this is happening despite the ceasefire agreed between Lebanon and Israel, which has been in effect for almost two weeks and is scheduled to last at least until mid-May. Both Israeli troops and the Lebanese Shiite group continue to attack each other amid the truce, while the Israeli Army also ordered this Tuesday the population to evacuate "immediately" 16 towns in southern Lebanon located below the Litani River.
