Iran calls the EU representative's words "hypocrisy" and "double standard"

International Editorial.- Iranian Foreign Minister Esmaeil Baqaei asserted that the statements by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, who declared that Tehran's reprisals against neighboring countries are an attempt to "set the region on fire," are "hypocrisy" and "double standards." In a message on the social network X, Baqaei stated, while attaching a video of Kallas, that "this is hypocrisy and a blatant double standard. The EU has lost its moral and political compass, repeatedly opting to appease aggressors and war criminals instead of confronting them." Kallas, along with the Polish Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, during a press conference today in Warsaw, – after the meeting of the Council of the Baltic States -, expressed his concern about the launch of an Iranian ballistic missile against Turkey and described the Persian country's military response as attempts to "incite the region". Iran's Strategy According to the EU

The EU official added that "Iran's strategy is to sow chaos" and that the regime is "making a strong case for its own demise" by attacking its neighbors "indiscriminately." The Iranian diplomat added in his message, tagging Kallas, that "she should recognize that Iran is being attacked by brutal aggressors and has every right, under international law, to defend its people." "Iran does not indiscriminately attack its neighbors; it is attacking the military assets and bases used to perpetrate attacks against it," Baqaei concluded in his message. The European High Representative said in her press conference that the war "is very widespread", when asked about the missile intercepted by NATO defenses, and described as "worrying" that these projectiles are crossing the borders of the Middle East. At the same time, he expressed his concern that the military escalation in that region is diverting attention from the war in Ukraine and concentrating military capabilities that could be useful in the country invaded by Russia. For his part, the Polish Sikorski warned that Tehran is making a "mistake" by expanding the war to nations that have not attacked it, including NATO and EU countries. A ballistic missile launched from Iran penetrated Turkish airspace this Wednesday, where it was intercepted and destroyed by NATO missile defense systems deployed in the eastern Mediterranean, after flying over Iraq and Syria.
