According to the records of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Chile, about 23,000 reside in the South American nation. In his intervention, the Dominican ambassador to Chile, Juan Cohén, highlighted that by instructions of the president there is a special emphasis on responding to the needs of Dominicans and adding value to the Creole community. He highlighted that the South American nation has the fourth-largest population of Dominicans outside of the national territory.

"Attending to the diaspora is a great job, but also a great opportunity to reach the ends of the world because at the ends of the world there are Dominicans; we have Dominicans from the South Pole, there in Punta Arenas, to Easter Island. The truth is that it is a great challenge, but we are fulfilling that which is the will of President Abinader", expressed the diplomat.

The embassy announced for November that it will celebrate Dominican Week in Chile in order to continue promoting integration and Quisqueyan culture. During the meeting, Francisco Berigüete, director of the Index in Chile, highlighted the fulfillment of the promises made by the president to that community and the initiatives to strengthen the bond between the Dominican State and its communities outside of Quisqueya. In the conversations, the role played by Dominicans abroad was highlighted, with their contributions to national development and the maintenance of customs in the new generations born outside their homeland. Also participating in the meeting were the head of the Consular Section, José García Marcano, the minister counselor; Joel Jonathan Delgado; the Cooperation counselor, Kenia del Orbe, and the first secretary, in charge of Protection of Nationals and liaison with the community, Malenskia Montero.
