In the lower part of the second inning, Junior Caminero hit a double to the left field corner that ignited the Dominican offense. From first base, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took off with speed towards home plate and starred in a spectacular play.Upon the arrival of the relay throw, Guerrero Jr. dove towards home plate with a "Superman"-style slide, elevating and changing direction in mid-air to avoid the tag from Korean catcher Dong Wan Park. The maneuver allowed him to score the first run of the game and put the Dominicans ahead 1-0.

A double by Julio Rodríguez and a single by Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in two additional runs, extending the Dominican lead to 3-0 through aggressive baserunning. The Dominican team reached the quarterfinals as one of the most dominant teams in the tournament, after finishing undefeated in Group D with a 4-0 record and a powerful offense that has connected multiple home runs during the competition. On the hill for the Dominican Republic, the left-handed Cristopher Sánchez is scheduled, while Korea trusts the experience of veteran Hyun Jin Ryu as the starting pitcher. The winner of the match will advance to the semifinals of the tournament, where they will face the winner of the duel between the United States and Canada, in another decisive match on the road to the World Baseball Classic title.
