Furthermore, it was pointed out that the committee will have a dual role. At the national level, it will serve as a space for analysis, discussion, and promotion of regulations related to artificial intelligence, contributing to strengthen the country's technical base. Internationally, it will function as a mirror committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which will allow the Dominican Republic to actively participate in the development of global standards in this area. The Vice Minister of Industrial Development and interim Secretary General of the Dominican Council for Quality (CODOCA), Gianna Franjul, highlighted that the creation of this committee represents a firm step towards a future where technological innovation is adopted with responsibility, confidence, and high quality standards. During his intervention, Franjul valued the initiative promoted by INDOCAL, highlighting its importance within the strengthening of the Dominican System for Quality and its alignment with the National Quality Policy 2024-2028. On her part, the Director of Innovation and Artificial Intelligence of the Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC), Yuberkis Chevalier, stated that this initiative represents a key step to reduce technological fragmentation, mitigate risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence, and generate trust in both the public sector and the citizenry.

"This committee arrives at a very opportune moment. Our country is moving towards the consolidation of a data governance framework, with projects already deposited in the National Congress, as well as the development of capabilities in digital talent and the progressive incorporation of artificial intelligence in public services," he expressed.

In the activity, Vladimir Jiménez, Director of Standardization; Mercedes Suero, in charge of Engineering and Science Standards; and Eduardo Llano, in charge of International Standards, participated, on behalf of INDOCAL.
